iPhone X Review Made Easy

iPhone X - The 10-year Anniversary of the iPhone.

The original iPhone that started the phenomenon of all Apple is today.
Without the invention of this device, I don't think Apple would have held its
following through their Mac's.

What a week we have had! The announcement of the incredible looking iPhone X (pronounced 10) that was announced on the 12.09.17. Every year I look forward to the 12th of September, probably with more anticipation than I would on Christmas Eve. Maybe that's because at Christmas time I usually know what to expect and what I will be opening, whereas with September 12th I'm left with this unknown certainty as to what my go-to device day in and out that can do everything I need it to plus more.

I was convinced by the Samsung S3 that it was a device that would do everything for me and would continue to be my Smartphone of choice. That was until almost 4 years ago when I met my partner and after around 6 months of dating, I was convinced to put my S3 in the draw and took up using an iPhone 4 at the time to see how it went for a week or two. I never took the S3 out of the draw again.

Let's start with the newest device of all the iPhone X, we also had the iPhone 8 and 8+ released at the same time but do we really want to know about those when we have the iPhone X to discuss. Plus all the features in the iPhone 8 are either on the iPhone X or they exceed it with great quality.

The iPhone X has actually outdone itself as to what it has been. The iPhone X has taken the iPhone to a whole new level. They have started with another new chip that they have called the A11 BIONIC, this chip is the most powerful chip that Apple has created with some of the MacBook Pro models (2017 models) not being able to compete. This chip has a way of communicating crucial information that can calculate how long each task will take to Finish. This chip will bring faster run times, smoother running system and overall more effective than we’ve seen before.

Screen

The first thing you notice about the newest addition to the Apple family is the massive complete (besides a tiny lip at the top for the camera) screen. The screen comes in at a whopping 5.8” on the diagonal with a Super Retina HD Display with a stunning resolution of 2436x1125 pixels at 458 PPI.

Appearance

The iPhone X just weighs a mere 174 grams and is only available in two styles with Apple ditching the gold and black
and styles with the iPhone X and only making it in Space Grey and Silver.
Another change for Apple with the iPhone X has the phone also dropping down to only two storage sized models of 64GB and 256GB.

               Back Dual Camera

The camera has had some improvements but its physical appearance has changed to that of the iPhone 7+ and 8+ by flipping 90 degrees. It has a 12MP telephoto and wide-angle telephoto cameras,
portrait lighting, live photos with stabilisation, auto image stabilisation and the ability to change the format of your photos from HEIF to JPEG among many other features.

The iPhone X's video capabilities are pretty awesome too with now being able to record in 4K as well as 1080p HD. Taking videos has just become so much easier with the various stabilisation features that have been added like the cinematic video stabilisation and the optical image stabilisation.

Front Camera

The front "Selfie Camera" has been upgraded to a 7Mp with 1080p HD video recording, backside illumination sensor, timer mode, retina flash and exposure control. Apple has also introduced the Animoji, which places your facial gestures into that of an emoji allowing you to record it and send it to friends or post on your social media. The front (true depth) camera is what enables the facial recognition to unlock the phone.

Charging

The charging is another thing that Apple has used in an attempt to catch up to their major competitor Samsung and introduced the wireless charging with the use of the Qi chargers which are available from places like JB Hi-Fi. The battery life is said to be better than Apples last release of the iPhone 7 with it lasting up to 2 hours longer with also having a capability of charging up to 50% in 30 minutes.

Cost

Now, this is the deal breaker I think, Apple is asking $1,579 for the 64GB model and $1,829 for the 256GB model. That is pretty steep considering the Samsung Galaxy S8 is $1,199 that comes with an 8MP front camera just to start with.

So with all that in mind I am not overly convinced on the iPhone X as of yet, it isn't available until November 3rd so I may be persuaded with advertising as what usually happens. I think for now I will hold off until next September and continue using my 7+ until the Xs is released hopefully and I'm hoping to see some major improvements.

iPhone X Keynote Reveal:

There is just way too much to fit into one post. Head over to the keynote and check out all the features in detail and see what you think? Is it really worth the money when the Samsung’s are a
much cheaper option with all the features and probably more?
